New Member in Oklahoma city - trying to get a sedan started.

I just found two and a quarter 360's in Oklahoma city, a van and a sedan. The van is engineless and the sedan has rusty pans but otherwise intact. I brought them home and my son fell in love with the little van. I was going to sell it off to a buddy but looks like we're housing two subies. Had to get rid of two MG's but we're a subie house anyway. My daily driver is a wrx. We stripped the quarter van of useable parts and sent it over to my buddy's. There's plenty of work to do, Ian got the engine to crank over but no spark so I've ordered a new set of points, condenser and coil. In the meantime I'll start looking over the brakes - lots of reading to do. I'm looking for an 360 engine nearby, we live in Oklahoma. I know there are a few more of these things running around here. Give me a shout if you hear of any engines for sale, Morgan is dying to see his van on the road.

I still have several transaxles, should be able to come up with a power unit complete EXCEPT FOR PISTONS & RINGS which are now available thru the Club. If you are interested e-mail me, see roster for e-mail.

We have no salt in the air and little salt on the roads so the little cars last longer. If you can take the heat and wind, you're golden. I found another 360 sedan roller with tube fenders if anyone is interested.

What type of steering wheel does it have Mark? Does it have a stripe on the roof insert section, or even an indent? Single carb?
Acrylic/Perspex headlamp covers? Thicker-style fender mirrors?

(We LOVE piccys on this forum! :) )

Cheers,

Ian

Ian,

No roof, no engine, no carb, no mirror, no headlight surround. Just a tree growing into it. That's why I left it behind. Im trying to figure out this photo posting thing.

Mark,

Go to tinypic.com,

* click on "choose file" (then navigate to your piccy on your computer or wherever it is located),
* leave "File type" as "Image",
* in the "Resize" pulldown menu select "Message Board (640 x 480)", then click the "Upload Now!" button.
* It will get you to go through a "captcha" sequence (visual.. or audio "puzzle" - for security), then upload should occur.

It may take a little time depending on the size of image, etc.. All you do then is copy the "IMG code for Forums and
Message Boards" link and paste it in to your Subie Board message .....

Voila!

.. like the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona? Lots of Subies sitting around unloved... in mothballs.. front bonnets inverted (sad look) ?

If only the 360s mothballed in OK held up as well as the planes in Tucson. I have seen those planes - they can sit for decades out there in the desert and look FINE.

My favorite part is the Air and Space Museum adjacent to the AMARG Boneyard. I built a bunch of 360 degree panoramas and made a webpage...

That's quite impressive Steve!

Enjoyed it, thanks. Those F-111s are larger than I thought! (we just scrapped ours in December)

Cheers,

Ian

I got the engine to run for thirty or forty seconds then it dies. did a quick clean on the carb like BOR says, but no improvement. Pulled the oil feed to pump and drained clear odorless fluid from the tank. Some body put water in the oil tank?? Nothing came out of the oil pump out put line so I'm going to pull the pump and check it over. Where do I find a new oil pump if this one is kaput?

If the oil tank has a crack in the top of it, water can infiltrate. Just ask Mark...

Steve,
Tanks, I found the leak after pulling the tank and replaced it with my spare. Now I'm working on the brakes and the carb.
