Just picked up this truck this morning. It's been sitting in the sand for 14 years. It's pretty complete, but I'm not sure if it's salvageable. There's some pretty nasty rust through in the bed on the driver's side. For a CA car it's pretty rough from being so close to the ocean. I'm in need of an engine as well.

I would appreciate any input from others that have done a restoration on a truck to determine whether this is a project I should attempt.

Well, it's like anything else. It can be fixed, but, it would be a lot of work. I actually pictured it being worse. If I were you and limited budget I would finish your Sedan then decide. Two major projects at once would be overwhelming and may fail. Just my thoughts.

I think I was leaning toward the same decision. I'm getting some pretty good flat rates for powder coating and such so I may pull the tires and get the rims done while I'm having the sedan parts done. The sedan is coming along great We've finished multiple layers of primer and finish sanding and are going to give it a couple weeks to sit and rest. Then on to paint.


The sedans were only white, but I've seen pics of some two tone ones from the 70's. Were these sent over that way or was that a dealer option/incentive?

I'm leaning towards a light grey or really light blue body with a slate blue lower half. I've seen earlier year Japanese models in a light grey. Does anyone know the actual color?
